Heat

Show that you care!

Households are responsible for around a quarter of direct CO2 emissions currently generated in the EU. Three quarters of the energy used by households in the EU goes to heating and cooling. Small gestures can save energy and money, while helping to protect the environment by reducing emissions. It’s in your power.

Here’s what you can do, right now:

  • On hot days, pull curtains and blinds to stop the sun rays.
  • Cool down with a fan. Fans use less energy than air conditioners.
  • Ventilate the room with the windows wide open. It is better to keep the windows wide open to refresh the air in a shorter time than to keep them open for longer periods and allow the room to chill.
  • Do not cover heat sources. Try not to cover radiators with curtains, furniture, or laundry to dry.
